The State Bar of South Dakota Ethics Opinions on Professional Conduct are prepared as an educational service to members of the State Bar. Ethics Opinions are provided to State Bar members upon request. Those of a general nature are published as a service to the Bar, however, those which are of a specific factual nature as would identify the lawyer or clients or individuals are not published.
While the opinions express the State Bar committee's interpretation of the South Dakota Rules of Professional Conduct and other relevant materials in response to a specific hypothesized fact situation, they do not have the weight of law and should not be relied upon as a substitute for individual legal advice.
